Cops find corpse in garbage bag after parents find ‘foul odor’ coming from son’s bedroom

A Washington man was arrested in Moses Lake on Wednesday, one day after a “foul odor” led his parents to find human remains in a large garbage bag in his bedroom.

Martin Diaz, 30, left Quincy shortly before officers arrived at the scene on Tuesday night. The Diaz’s parents reported the smell to officers, who looked in the bag and found a corpse.

The Moses Lake Police Department said detectives learned Wednesday that Diaz was in their city. Officers found him Wednesday afternoon on the 900 block of North Stratford Road and took him into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Diaz was convicted of a felony in 2018 for threatening to use force while armed with a deadly weapon.

The police are yet to identify the body to the public.
