China: Villagers install 1000 street lights to rip off Xi Jinping’s government

The most well lit road in China is sending strong signals against their President and the ruling Xi Jinping.

A dusty road on the outskirts of Xi holds the record of having the most street lights installed along it. The villagers in Taojia have installed more than 1,000 street lights along a 3 kilometer long road.

One 500 metre segment road alone is bordered by a whopping 200 street lights. Usually streetlights are installed between 50 meter intervals, however images of this well lit road had gone viral on Chinese social media websites.

Local media reported that the villagers have put up the street lights only to “rip off” the government.

The road is located in Taojia village part of the Xi’an International Trade & Logistics Park, the area is all set to be bulldozed over. Knowing this, the villagers have installed these extra set of street lights to increase the amount of compensation they will receive from the government.

It’ll be interesting to see, if the government buys this idea and if it’ll impact their compensation.
