CCTV Footage: Mumbai woman escapes giant tree falling on her as cyclone Tauktae pounds the city

A woman in the Indian city of Mumbai escaped a giant tree falling on her. The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera.

The city was battered by a monster cyclone Tauktae on Monday which uprooted trees, damaged cars and infrastructure.

The incident took place in the city’s Vikhroli area.

In the video a giant tree could be seen falling on a street as a woman attempted to cross a road. In a miraculous escape, the woman managed to run away before the tree fell.

The Indian Navy mounted a massive air and sea rescue mission on Tuesday for oil workers and crew whose barges sank in heavy seas following a powerful cyclone.

The Indian navy said it had rescued 177 of the 270 people aboard and that efforts to find missing were ongoing. Three other commercial barges carrying about 700 people are stranded at sea.

More than 200,000 people had been evacuated from their homes in the state of Gujarat before Tauktae, packing gusts of up to 210 kph, made landfall.

The cyclone has killed at least 29 people.
