The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a preliminary enquiry to probe alleged irregularities over payments made to movie directors.
Its alleged that excess payments were made to movie directors like Anurag Kashyap and others by National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
The movies under scanner were That Girl in the Yellow Boots and The Lunchbox. Anurag Kashyap had received over ₹2.2 cr for these movies from NFDC.
The Information & Broadcast Ministry alleged that Kashyap and others were overpaid.
Also sources suggest the complaint was directed by the Information & Broadcast Ministry itself.
CBI has asked NFDC to share financial documents that would help the probe.
The NFDC was constituted under the Information & Broadcasting (I&B) ministry in 1975. The board receives central funds and other grants to participate in film festivals and make publicity films for the government.
