A Canadian man was killed earlier this week after being crushed by his own car in a McDonald’s drive-thru, according to reports.
Vancouver authorities have not released the name and age of the victim.
The fatal accident occurred at 5:30am on Tuesday as the man was attempting to pay for his food.
Police said he dropped his credit card on the ground and opened his car door to pick it up when the vehicle rolled forward and pinned him between the car and the building, reports said.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services rushed to the scene but were unable to save the man.
“Efforts were made by first responders to revive the man, but tragically, he died on scene,” Vancouver police said in a statement.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, reports said.
Authorities were reviewing store surveillance footage of the incident as part of an ongoing investigation.
“This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario,” Vancouver Police Officer Tania Visintin said in a news release. “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man.”
