Karnataka BJP President, BS Yeddyurappa who will most likely take over as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka said, “a new era of development will start from now onwards.”
Mr. Yeddyurappa told reporters soon after the HD Kumaraswamy-led coalition government lost the vote of confidence on Tuesday.
“It is the victory of democracy. People were fed up with the Kumaraswamy government. I want to assure the people of Karnataka that a new era of development will start from now onwards. Our farmers are suffering due to drought and other reasons. In the coming days we assure the people of Karnataka that we will give more importance to the farmers so that they can live happily,” the BJP state chief added.
The BJP would stake claim on Wednesday after meeting Governor Vajubhai Vala.
BS Yeddyurappa could likely be sworn in as Chief Minister for the fourth time.
In 2018, when he was sworn Chief Minister last time, BS Yeddyurappa was barely in office for a couple of days.
BJP supporters celebrated at the party`s state office in Bengaluru after the coalition government lost the trust vote. Governor Vala accepted the resignation of Kumaraswamy as the chief minister and asked him to continue as the caretaker CM till alternative arrangements were made.
