BJP leader Mukul Roy was among four people who have been named in connection with the killing of Trinamool Congress lawmaker Satyajit Biswas.
Two suspects were arrested and a police officer was suspended due to connection with the case.
West Bengal assembly MLA Satyajit Biswas from Nadia district was shot dead at point black range while attending a public function 120 kilometers away from state capital Kolkata, in Majhdia. After the bullet wound Satyajit was taken to the hospital where the hospital confirmed that he was brought dead.
A police officer was quoted by the PTI said, “So far, we have arrested two persons in this case and detained another three. A country-made revolver used to shoot the MLA has also been recovered. As per our primary findings, it seems that the victim was fired from behind and the act was the result of a well-planned plot.”
As per eyewitness reports Mr. Biswas was sitting on a chair in the front row when two-four assailants gathered around and killed him. Eyewitness say it was like a firecracker going off.
The local TMC leaders from Nadia district accused the BJP leader Mukul Roy behind the assassination. Mukul Roy quite recently hopped into the BJP from TMC.
The BJP says an internal TMC feud over election tickets within led to the killing of Biswas.
