A day after BJP’s Bhopal candidate Pragya Singh Thakur called Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a ‘patriot’ another BJP lawmaker Nalin Kumar Kateel, compared Godse with former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Nalin Kateel tweeted on Thursday, “Godse killed one, Kasab killed 72, Rajiv Gandhi killed 17,000. You judge who is more cruel in this??” His comments came soon when Pragya Singh received a major backlash for glorifying Godse, Pragya’s party distanced themselves from her and condemned her as well.
Mr. Kateel a two time member of parliament is contesting the elections from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency. The man named former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi in the same breath as 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab, who was executed in 2012.
The BJP time and again has targeted Rajiv Gandhi, the father of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, while targeting the opposition party over the 1984 anti-Sikh riots following Indira Gandhi’s assassination by her Sikh bodyguards. Over 3000 people were killed in a three day carnage.
Both Pragya Singh Thakur and Nalin Kumar Kateel apologised only after a public outcry. Their mindsets are completely exposed before the nation, along with the BJP who have sided along with them.
This controversy by Pragya Thakur and Kateel comes couple of days before the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, putting the BJP on a backfoot trying to clarify their party leaders comments instead of attacking the Congress.
