BJP condemns Pragya Thakur for calling Mahatma Gandhi assassin Nathuram Godse a “Deshbhakt”

Nathuram Godse the man who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi was branded “Deshbhakt” a patriot, by the Lok Sabha BJP candidate from Bhopal Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. Her controversial comment forced the BJP to distance itself from her, and also condemn it.

Pragya Thakur owing to the backlash from her own party, forced to clarify, she said she “follows the party’s line” and the party’s line was her line. But she stepped short of an apology despite her party members asking for one.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi attacked the BJP, saying just disowning the egregious comment was not enough.

Saffron clad Pragya Thakur is an accused in the Malegaon blast case, and has court proceeding against her at the moment. Even though she is a terror accused, the BJP issued her a ticket.

This is not the first time that the 49 year old lady made a controversial remark, in fact she just included one more to kitty. Soon after being made the BJP candidate, she said at a gathering that she cursed Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare during her prison term, after which he died in firing during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

Then she claimed that she  was cured of her cancer after drinking cow urine.

Again later she invited trouble when she said that she herself had climbed on top of the Babri Masjid to demolish the mosque and was very proud of it.

Her extreme comments even forced the election commission to ban her from campaigning for a short while.
