Bangkok’s toxic air versus New Delhi

The thick blanket of smog covering Bangkok, the capital of Thailand has affected many travellers and residents. The air  contains 2.5 particulate matter which is a serious and dangerous for the human health.

It’s over two weeks since the Air quality in Thailand deteriorated, it seems to have entered human lungs. Nutthawut Sirichainarumit an office worker posted pictures of her hands covered in blood after a sneeze. She blamed the air pollution for it.

Another local Seine Premmanuspaisal who has never been infected with any lung disease was diagnosed with a lung infection. He says he had been coughing up blood and vomiting blood since few days.

The government had shut down 439 schools due to the dangerous air pollution levels. Also government agencies tried to lower the pollution levels by flying drones to spray water, but this hasn’t helped much.

Experts believe that the  pollution was caused by vehicles, construction projects, burning crops and street food.

The Bangkok governor has banned the usage of diesel cars in the city until the situation subsides.

(The Pigeon Express Opinion – The Air quality in India too isn’t that great. If you tend to do comparison between Bangkok’s Air Quality and New Delhi, then probably Delhi ranks 100 points higher.

Also I don’t understand the fuss around pollution in Bangkok. Or should I say are Indians taking air pollution lightly. For the fact that we accepted pollution as a normal so probably it doesn’t affect us as much.

However air pollution is no joke, world health organisations says that 4.2 million people die due to poor air quality. Better sooner that India breaks barriers and puts in more efforts to curb pollution. For starters, let’s rewind to stone age.)
