Asian Academy Creative Awards Gully Boy the Best feature film from India

Gully Boy, bagged THE best film from India in the regional finals of the Asian Academy Creative Awards.

Farhan Akhtar, who co-produced Gully Boy, took to Twitter to congratulate Zoya and Gully Boy’s team for their win.

Asian Academy Creative Awards is Asia Pacific’s most prestigious awards for creative excellence.




The movie featured Ranveer Singh  in the role of Murad, who lives in Dharavi in Mumbai. Siddhant Chaturvedi as MC Sher helped Murad find his calling as a rapper in the film.

Gully Boy showcased rap culture emerging from the streets of Mumbai. It showed Murad’s struggle of living in slums of Mumbai and his journey of becoming a popular rapper. Alia Bhatt played Ranveer’s love interest in the film. Gully Boy was inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers Divine and Naezy.

The movie also was critically acclaimed and it also had a great run at the box office. The movie is India’s official entry into the Oscars this year.
