A serious bug in the Apple FaceTime application allows users to listen to people they are calling when they do not pick up. The glitch also allows some callers to see the video of the person before they pick up.
The bug turns the microphone on of the recipient while the call is still ringing. When the recipient presses the power button on the side of the phone it begins broadcasting the video. Usually the power button is used to reject or silence the call.
Apple is working on the glitch and users should expect an update for the FaceTime application soon.
The bug surfaces over at a time where there are growing concerns over privacy and data management. Until apple fixes this issue users can switch can disable FaceTime on their phones by going into the settings.
Users can also switch to rival Google and Facebook’s very own version of a video chatting applications.
