Akshay Kumar thanks union minister Kiren Rijiju for supporting him

Canadian Actor Akshay Kumar thanked Indian Union Minister Kiren Rijiju for his support after a controversy raged over the former’s citizenship.

Rijiju on the 3rd of May commended on Mr. Kumar’s efforts towards raising funds for martyrs through the government backed ‘Bharat ke Veer’ initiative. Rijiju’s tweet was in response to the actor’s clarification that he had never hidden the fact that he held a Canadian passport.

Kumar on tuesday decided to reply to the union minister, “Thank you so much @KirenRijiju Sir, and I apologise for the delayed response. I am grateful for your kind words. Please be assured, my commitment to #BharatKeVeer and to the Indian armed forces would remain steady, no matter what.”

Questions over Kumar’s citizenship erupted when the actor interviews the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a freewheeling “non-political” interview.

Their conversation received huge criticism for having a non-political interview during the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, secondly questions were raised about who sponsored the interview and thirdly the actors citizenship was questioned when he refused to answer the media about why couldn’t vote in the elections.
