Air India Express flight hits electric pole while landing at Vijayawada

An Air India Express flight hit an electric pole while landing at Vijayawada International Airport in India’s Andhra Pradesh state on Saturday.

“All 64 passengers on board the flight and the crew are safe,” G Madhusudan Rao, airport director said.

The flight originated from Doha, Qatar.




The incident occurred at 4:54pm local time on Saturday.

Images show the electric pole with several lights beside the runway. A large dent is also visible on the far end of the plane’s right wing that hit the pole.

Airline authorities have ordered an investigation into the incident.
