60-year-old climbs electric pole after family object to his second marriage

A man in the Indian state of Rajasthan decided to risk it all by climbing up an electric pole in order to convince his family to permit him to marry again.

The man was identified as Sobran Singh, 60. He lost his wife four years ago and has been living alone though these years. When his family and children did not stamp his idea, he climbed up an 11 kilovolt electricity pole in Dholpur.

Local media reported that the man had even threatened to end his life over this.

The family then quickly informed the electricity department who later cut supply in those lines, potentially saving his life. The man has three sons and two daughters along with a bunch of grandchildren.

After a lot of convincing from the family and neighbours, Sobran finally came down from the pole.
