Five labourers killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday. None of the dead were Kashmiri.
Jammu and Kashmir police in a tweet said, “In Kulgam terrorists have killed five civilians. Police is on the spot. Information is preliminary in nature.”
This incident came a day after terrorists shot a truck driver in Anantnag district and a grenade attack targeting people waiting at a bus stand in Sopore. And also after, terrorists fired 7 rounds of ammunition against paramilitary bunker in an elementary school in Pulwama on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the civilian labourers were from West Bengal’s Sagardighi in Murshidabad. The incident happened when they were at a locals residence.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation. Additional security forces have also been called in.
Of the five labourers, three were identified as Sheikh Kamrudin, Sheikh Mohammed Rafiq and Sheikh Murnsulin.
Terrorists have been targeting truck drivers and labourers belonging to other states ever since the centre stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status on 5 August. Upto four non-local truck drivers transporting apples were shot dead between October 14 and 28.
