5 burnt alive after bus caught fire in south India

At least five people were burnt alive after a bus caught fire in India. Twenty seven other passengers were injured.

The bus was travelling in the south Indian state of Karnataka, from Vijayapura to Bengaluru.

The bus caught fire on the highway in Chitradurga district in the early hours of Wednesday.

The bus run by a private operator was carrying 32 passengers when it caught fire on National Highway 4 at KR Halli in Hiriyur taluk of the district.

Two children were among the dead.

Prim facia an engine trouble is suspected to be the reason for the fire.

The injured have been shifted to a district government hospital. Hiriyur Police have registered an FIR and further investigations are on.
