Indonesia is prone to a great number of natural disasters than any other part of the world.
The 21st century for Indonesia has seen a major natural disaster every second year.
However with the recent Tsunami created by the volcanic eruption of Anak Krakatoa this year makes it the 3rd disaster for the year for Indonesia.
In the last 18 years over 2,00,000 people were killed by natural disasters. Earthquake and Tsunami’s topped the list.
2004 – Aceh & Nias Tsunami killed 1,70,000 people
2005 – Nias earthquake killed 1,500 people
2006 – Bantul earthquake killed 5,782 people
2006 – Pangandaran earthquake killed 660 people
2006 – Central Java landslide killed 240 people
2009 – Pandang earthquake killed 1,115 people
2010 – Merapi volcanic eruption killed 353 people
2010 – West Sumatra earthquake and tsunami killed 440 people
2014 – Karangkobar landslides killed 100 people
2018 – Lombok earthquake killed 564 people
2018 – Palu earthquake killed 2,256 people
