2-storey building collapses after cooking gas cylinder explosion

A cooking gas explosion at a home in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has killed at least 12 persons. The 2-storey building collapsed following the blast in Mau district.

While 6 people were injured in the incident.

Rescue work is currently underway, as there is a high possibility of more people being trapped under the debris of the building.

The neighbours in the area said they heard a loud explosion and the building was engulfed in fire soon after.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the blast in a house in Walidpur in Mau. He has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and directed… all officers to immediately provide all possible relief and medical help to the injured person,” additional chief secretary Awanish Awasthi told the press.
