The roof of a building that houses Bank of Maharashtra collapsed on Wednesday at 11:30 am. The branch was at Karmala in Solapur district, Maharashtra.
One person was killed and over 20 others were injured.
While some bank officials managed to come outside, a few staff members and customers were trapped under the debris and got injured
Firefighters and locals were conducting rescue operations as soon as the incident occurred.
Building collapses are frequent in Maharashtra during the monsoons and they claim massive number of casualties.
Earlier this month 13 people were killed in Mumbai’s Dongri area when a 4 storey building came crashing down on its residents. Multiple teams including the NDRF, carried out massive search and rescue operations for days to find survivors from the pile of debris.
